Before & After Pictures of

1959 6136 Gretsch White Falcon

Keep everything as original as possible, that's the goal on collectible instruments and rare birds. In fact that's usually my goal on most instruments.
In this case only a partial refret was necessary to make the Falcon fly again. It also got an intensive clean up right down to each individual screw in the FilterTron Pickups and knurl on the tone knobs.

When refretting and partially refretting instruments I pay close attention to the way the original frets were shaped. If you take a look at several different instruments you may notice that manufacturers have their own techniques and methods when fretting. Some fret ends are squared with a well defined, crisp looking bevel, others are round with a very polished look. Still others can be crude and jagged looking. When partially refretting an instrument I'm going to replicate the manufacturers look in order to "disguise" the non-original frets (p.s. ...we are speaking of vintage and collectible instruments here, not cheapos with horrendous fret work).
