Model Cars, Girls Build them too....

BACK

Building 1:24 scale model cars from kits and scratch is a favorite past time of mine. I began when I was nine and picked it up again in my late 20's. My business now has command of my spare time and I find it fulfills my creative whims. But model building was a wonderful hobby with endless creative possibilities.

Black Diamond

Ford Mustang. Scratch built Yakima ski/bike rack with skis and poles complete with latches and locks. Scratch built bra for hood. Snow and ice w/ icicles made from sugar, salt and corn starch. Custom color lacquer paint job.
This is probably everyone's favorite and I certainly had a great time making it.

Dodge Viper  Scratch built "Club" for steering wheel (my trademark at local competitions), scratch built amp and wiring in trunk, Kenwood lettering on back glass. Three stage candy lacquer paint job. It is nearly box stock and took 1st in the Curbside category.

Ford High Boy. Body was "frenched" (door handles removed, antenna recessed), windshield chopped, trunk panel and cowl vent panel were opened. Trunk cavity made from scratch and carpeted. Custom lacquer paint job with clear coat. Engine fully detailed with dipstick, plugs, plug wires, scratch built carburetor linkage to pedal, radiator hoses and other wires. Hand made aluminum coil over shocks for rear end, polished aluminum bumper bars, flanged exhaust tips, brake lines etc. Interior is carpeted and fitted with seat belts, floor mats and a temp/oil pressure gauge.
Would of, should of, could of...If I had opened the doors who knows what this one would have done at competition. It's one of my favorites.

Ford Pickup   This was my first attempt at the two tone fade look. The balance and depth was superb and I surprised myself.  No blotching uneven look. And of course I had to drop it! It was the in thing at the time, dropped suspension, tires far too wide for wheel base...you know the look. I also tinted the windshield and plumbed the engine compartment.
It placed 2nd in a competition with over 50 other entries.

GMC Pickup Lots of add ons...carpeted, seat covers, shoulder belts, "The Club", fishing pole rack mounted to front grill, Hidden hitch, wired and plumbed engine compartment with mud, grease and wear.

VW BUG

This kit was built "box stock" which simply means no items can be built or used that did not come in the kit. It won it's category at every show I placed it in.

Jeep Well, none of my friends liked this jeep when I finished it so I decided to cover it in mud (sort of). Then it was "cool", haha. I also used it as a guniea pig for flocking the interior. I liked it for carpeting but it left allot to be desired.
